I never though I'd succumb to blogging... And if I did I never thought i'd tell anyone about it. I'd much rather be a stalker (i already am!) than stalkee. But I'm giving in because i need advice, preferably legal advice.
Ok so hypothetically speaking, there is this family where the dad works really really hard to provide for his family (50+ hours per week), and this hypothetical company all of a sudden starts not paying the dad. First the paychecks are a few days late, then a week, and by now this family hasn't gotten paid in 45 days! They are almost 3 full paychecks behind! Bills start piling up, they use their Entire savings paying for rent, food, utilities and gas, they max their credit cards out on baby formula, etc.... Also, they would like to apply for WIC to help out a little, but the dad's pay stubs say they make too much to qualify. Wic doesn't care that those last two pay stubs happen to date back to September. Also, the dad looks into his 401K to find out that half his money is missing. The HR department at his job "looks into it" for a week and never gives him an ansewr. The family gets a notice in the mail saying their health insurance is cancelled because the employer stopped paying. What should this family do? Isn't this illegal? Oh yeah, there has also been talk in the company of the company filing for bankruptcy, which would cause no one to get paid. Ever again. Now some of you may wonder why the dad continues and has continued to keep giong to work every day. It was because this is the first job he has ever liked. Loved even, and could probably have spent the rest of his life at. He didn't want to mess it up just because a paycheck was a few days late. He is now currently searching for a new job, paycut or not, embarassing or not (ie. fast food, or really anything). They are even considering moving out to Hanna. Where is that? I don't even know. "Kind of by Vernal." Apparently there is a great paying job available out there. Ok, so really, what can this family (and all the other families that work for this company) do? They have emailed the 'Get Gephardt' guy and are still waiting for a response. THey have filed greivances with the Utah labor Division. Nothing is working so far. Any ideas?
